Film Awardees Scoop Prestigious Awards
Over the last decade, the Dewar Arts Awards has supported a clutch of aspiring young Scottish film-makers: directors, cinematographers, producers, editors, writers and set designers. Many of them to do postgraduate training at the prestigious National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, which receives entries from all over the world and at which it is formidably difficult to gain a place.
Young director Paul Wright has a lot to live up to since one critic called him the “future of the British film industry.” He has found success at festivals in Berlin, London, Edinburgh and Locarno. The trustees were delighted to hear that he won the 2011 BAFTA for Best Short film for his haunting “Until the River Runs Red”.
In the same year, film director Ruth Paxton won Best Short Film at the 8th London Short Film Festival for PARIS/SEXY which explores the dark world of erotic obsession. The film was shot by cinematographer and fellow awardee, David Liddell.
