Over the past decade, the Dewar Arts Awards have supported 111 musicians, composers, and singers from all musical genres by helping them to purchase musical instruments or to go on to study music at the major conservatoires in the UK and abroad.

 

One of our 2008 awardees, classical guitarist Sean Shibe, who performed his first solo recital at the age of 15, has been winning prestigious international music competitions and awards from a very young age. The trustees were thrilled to hear that he had won the 2011 Gold Medal and First Prize in the internationally renowned Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition, one of only two guitarists to achieve this honour throughout the competition’s history.
