Since their inauguration in 2002 the Dewar Arts Awards, set up as a memorial to Scotland’s first First Minister, have assisted over 200 young Scots, from all art forms to realise their potential. The winners of new awards in February 2009 are announced.

The awards cover a wide range of the arts including film makers, visual artists, dancers, actors, photographers, textile designers, writers, composers, conductors and contemporary jewelers.
