James McArdle Stars in Blockbuster 'Mary Queen of Scots'

Success for James McArdle

Awardee James McArdle stars alongside Saoirse Ronan, Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce in 2019 blockbuster 'Mary Queen of Scots'. The film is set to become one of the biggest of the year and is tipped for awards at the Oscars.

The film tells the story of Mary's return to her native Scotland after being widowed, to assume her throne. James McArdle plays her brother, James Murray, who is wary of her return to power.

Speaking in an interview with Yahoo Movies, James was modest about his own contribution to the film, stating:

"Some of the times when we appreciated how epic the film was going to be was when we were out at Glencoe...Scotland did a lot of that work" - James McArdle (See full interview here).

The Dewar Arts Awards supported James' studies at RADA, and at that time we wrote:

"James is considered to have enormous potential as an actor and is expected to become one of Scotland’s finest actors in the future."

We are delighted to see him go on to achieve his potential, and wish him every success for the future.
