Louis Alderson-Bythell Innovates with Interdisciplinary Creative Practice

Since graduating from the RCA in 2017, Awardee Louis Alderson-Bythell has made a major name for himself with his innovative creative practice.

Louis has established his own brand LAB (www.lvboratory.com / www.instagram.com/__l.a.b), investigating novel fabrication processes and innovative materials in order to diversify the way we think about and construct garments.

In addition to this, Louis has this year set up a business with collaborator Kate Williams called Material Think Space (www.materialthinkspace.com). This is an art practice working between sculpture, performance art and experience design. Their work has been shown at Fashion Clash Festival and ArtNight London curated by the Hayward Gallery.

Louis has also become a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art in Fashion, and his work has been featured in prestigious publications including Vogue, Hunger Magazine and Textile View.

He tells us:

'I couldn’t have done any of this without the amazing support of the [Dewar Arts Awards] which allowed me to pursue my studies and take my work and thinking to the next level.'
