Roslyn Paterson

Roslyn is in her final year at ALRA, studying for a degree in acting. She is an intelligent actor who gives a subtle and believable performance.


Samantha Doherty

Samantha is a very musical and dynamic dancer to watch. She is equally at home with classical ballet, contemporary dance and jazz, with a growing potential as a choreographer.


Sandy Smith

Sandy Smith graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2005 with a first class degree in sculpture. He is considered to be one of the most exciting contemporary artists to emerge through the Glasgow art scene in the last ten years.


Stephanie Ward

Stephanie has a passion for art, especially fantasy art. Her range of styles as an animator is impressive, from detailed to minimalist, from humourous to profoundly serious. Her goal is to develop a career as an animator.


Timothy Cooper

Timothy is a composer who works equally in the electroacoustic studio and with instruments. His music has been performed around the world. Tim enjoys working across art forms and has completed sound designs for theatre, film and photography.


Yusuf Javed

For as long as he can remember, Yusuf has loved the cinema and enjoyed telling stories. His ambition is to find new and interesting ways to tell great stories, following in the footsteps of some of his cinematic heroes.


Lynda-Jane Workman

Mezzo-soprano Lynda-Jane has been studying opera at RSAMD for the past five years. She is currently on their Master of Music programme.


Alex Boyd

Alex began his ‘Sonnets of Scotland’ project in 2007. A History of Art graduate from the University of Glasgow, Alex describes his project as a “photographic journey around the coasts and countryside of Scotland”.


Emily Hoile

In 2005, Emily was awarded a Dewar Arts Award to buy a new harp. Even at the age of 13 she stood out as a remarkable instrumentalist, winning numerous prestigious prizes.


John Ross

John’s interest in dance started through his involvement in drama at The Space in Dundee. He went on to study contemporary dance in Scotland and now continues his study at UK’s leading conservatoire in contemporary dance.


Chloe Gough

Talented painter, Chloe gained her first degree in fine art and philosophy. Her work was selected for inclusion in the prestigious RSA New Contemporary Exhibition in 2010.


Andrew Cumming

From Leven in Fife, Andrew started on his journey towards film-making studying at Duncan of Jordanstone, where he gained a first-class degree. From then he has focussed on making narrative film shorts, for which he has won many awards.


Asif Ali

Hailing from Paisley, Asif began his training in film production through the national Second Light Initiative and is to date their most successful apprentice. He impressed his mentors with his talent, passion and commitment.


Louise Alder

London-born Louise has been studying music at Edinburgh University, where she was considered to be one of their best singers. She won two prestigious singing competitions while a student. Louise is a Britten Pears Young Artist.


Lewis Anderson

Lewis started his musical education at Douglas Academy from where he entered the RSAMD Junior programme. At 16 he gained the highest marks in Scotland for Advanced Higher Music and is considered to be one of the most exciting woodwind players in Scotland of his generation.


Michael Clark

Glasgow-born Michael began his musical education in the Continuing Education Scheme run by the RSAMD. He has performed with many prestigious Scottish orchestras. He is currently a student at RNCM.


Rebecca Donnelly

Glasgow-born Rebecca has her sights set on performing on the major musical theatre stages of the world. Her mentors believe she possesses the right ‘triple-threat’ qualities to achieve her ambition.


Kathryn Elkin

Originally from Belfast, Kathryn has been a part of the visual art scene in Glasgow for almost ten years; first as an art student at GSA and subsequently working in and contributing to Glasgow’s vibrant visual art scene.


James Gardner

James studied textiles and surface design at Gray’s School of Art, graduating with a first-class degree, before going on to work in London. Along the way he garnered prizes and accolades. He fulfils a long-term dream to study at London’s fashion mecca, Central St Martin’s.


Jennifer Gray

Graduate of Glasgow School of Art in 2006, Jennifer has since worked as a silversmith, winning a host of prestigious awards for her work


Deborah Hannan

Edinburgh-born Deborah studied EngLit at Edinburgh University, graduating with a first-class degree, before going on to join the Traverse Young Writer’s Programme. She is an exciting new voice on the Scottish theatre scene.


Taylor MacLennan

Glasgow-born Taylor was a pupil at St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh, during which time he won a raft of prizes and competitions. He is a flautist of great talent and is now studying music in London.


Ben McAteer

Originally from Northern Ireland, Ben studied music at St Andrews where he held the Cedric Thorpe Davie Vocal Scholarship for five years. He was very involved in many musical activities while at St. Andrews, including the St. Andrews’ Opera and the Gilbert and Sullivan Society.


Ross Mcinroy

Dundee-born Ross grew up in Arbroath. He began his musical training with the National Youth Choir of Scotland, progressed to study singing at the RSAMD and later to the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Royal College of Music’s International Opera School for postgraduate study.


Louis Paxton

Louis trained in TV Operations at Edinburgh’s Telford College before going on to study film at RSAMD. He joins a growing group of talented Scottish film makers able to train at the prestigious NFTS, Beaconsfield, thanks to a Dewar Arts Award


Ruth Paxton

In 2007 Ruth graduated from Screen Academy Scotland and went on to write, direct, produce and design for an eclectic mix of film projects.


Erin Smith

Erin began playing the violin at the age of five and by the age of 12 had won the Scottish championships six times in a row and the National Mod three times in a row.


Kay Stephen

After completing her first degree at RSAMD with a first-class flourish, Kay continues her studies in violin performance at RNCM.


Ania Winiarska

Polish-born Ania became passionate about film through her initial studies in journalism. Her early fascination with ordinary people’s lives grew into a desire to tell more in-depth human interest stories through the medium of film documentary.


Tom Harrold

Glasgow-born Tom Harrold has already had his music performed and recorded in London, Amsterdam, York, Glasgow, Aberdeen – and Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago before going on to study composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.


Alan McKendrick

Freelance stage writer, director and translator Alan McKendrick, from Glasgow, already has a number of stage successes under his belt. In 2006 he won the Arches Award for stage directors.


Andrea Harkin

Originally from Derry, Northern Ireland, and now based in Edinburgh, Andrea won a 2008 BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award, in the Best First-Time Writer category, for the short film ‘The Flyer’, which she both wrote and directed.


Asher Zaccardelli

From Edinburgh, Asher won a scholarship to St Mary’s Music School at the age of 14 to study the viola.


Beth Mackay

Yorkshire-born mezzo-soprano Beth Mackay gained her first degree at Leeds University, during which time she sang in the Leeds Baroque Choir. She progressed to the RNCM in Manchester to pursue postgraduate vocal studies, moving on to continue her studies at the RSAMD in Glasgow.


Danielle Heron

Paisley-born actress Danielle has toured all over Scotland with PACE Youth Theatre Company and performed at Glasgow’s SEC to thousands of primary school children. Former members of PACE include film actor James McAvoy and singer Paolo Nutini.


Edward McGurn

Glasgow-born Edward McGurn started his acting training at Coatbridge College where he was awarded the Ian Bannen Memorial prize for outstanding performance in his final showcase.


Elisabeth Ingram

Elisabeth studied English Literature at Harris Manchester College, where she won a scholarship. In 2004, she won the McDonough Prize and graduated in 2005. After leaving University Elisabeth focused on writing short stories, with the aim of pursuing a postgraduate creative writing course.


Fergal McGoff

Edinburgh-born Fergal started his working life as a painter and decorator with a dream to perform on stage. By chance, he did some decorating work for a choreographer …. read on to discover what happened next.


Fiona Mackay

Aberdeen-born Fiona studied initially at the Glasgow School Art, from which she graduated with a degree in fine art painting. Since then, she has worked as an artist, exhibiting in Scotland, England, Germany and Belgium.


Iain Culross

Dundee-born cornettist Iain has had many notable successes in competitions, including winning best brass player four times at the Perth Festival from 2000-2004 and the Premier Class winner of Best Overall Soloist in 2003.


James Kenny

James Kenny, from Edinburgh, initially learnt to play piano from his mother, a piano teacher. At age 14, James was a pupil at Edinburgh City Music School where he studied double bass, piano, composition and choral singing.


Jemma Brown

Dunfermline-born Jemma got her start as a singer as a chorister at Dunfermline Abbey. She was subsequently awarded a music scholarship to St Leonard’s School in St Andrews where she continued her singing and piano playing and took up the bassoon.


Joseph Young

From Alloa, Joseph Young is a student on the degree course in Acting at the Guildford School of Acting. He describes himself as a ‘driven and hungry individual’.


Katherine Grosset

Mezzo-soprano Katherine Grosset from Edinburgh first studied composition and performance at the University of Glasgow graduating with an honours degree in music. She later went on to study for a Master of Music in Vocal Training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with Susan McCulloch.


Kierah Poppy Stark

Kierah Poppy’s first appearance on stage was at the age of three in the Merry Go Round Show at Eden Court in Inverness. Later she progressed to the Scottish Ballet’s Junior Associates programme.


Krysty Wilson

Glasgow-born Krysty Wilson is a graduate of RSAMD where she studied screenwriting and graduated with a first-class degree in digital film and television. She stood out amongst her peers as a natural-born talent.


Lliam Paterson

Lliam was a pupil first at Dyce Academy, Aberdeen and later at Edinburgh’s St Mary’s Music School where he studied composition, piano and horn. It is in his work as a composer where his prodigious musical talent is particularly evident.


Màiri Chaimbeul

From Sleat, the Isle of Skye, Màiri has been described as ‘outrageously talented’. Not only is she a prodigious talent on the clàrsach, but she also plays the fiddle and piano to an equally high standard.


Nicky Spence

Born and brought up in rural Dumfries and Galloway, Nicky Spence showed early musical promise and from an early age his goal was to sing professionally on the operatic stage.


Patrick Kenny

In 2007 Patrick won a Dewar Arts Award to attend the Beijing International Trombone Festival. Following the festival, Patrick had classes with Niels Ole-Bo Johansen at the Royal Danish Conservatoire and Pete Madson at the University of Nebraska, USA
